ABOUT

 

The Southeast AIDS Training & Education Center (SEATEC) is a consortium of six states, which covers Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama [national map].  The Tennessee AIDS EDUCATION AND TRAINING CENTER (TN AETC) is funded to provide education, training and clinical support to health care providers of persons living with HIV/AIDS in Tennessee.  This program accomplishes its Mission through through didactic presentations, skill building workshops, clinical consultations, small group interactive sessions, case discussions, one-on-one clinical preceptorships, and HIV Update Symposia. 

 

The Tennessee statewide center of operations is located at the Comprehensive Care Center under the auspices of Stephen Raffanti, MD, MPH, Project Director and Victoria L. Harris, EdD, Director of Education.  Drs. Raffanti and Harris have been involved in HIV/AIDS education for health providers since 1987 when AETCs were first initiated.

 

The AETC program has been a cornerstone of The Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) HIV/AID program for over a decade. The authority for this grant program is the Public Health Service Act as amended by Public Law 104-146, the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS resources ACT Amendments of 1996, 2000, Public Law 104-146, Code 42.
